Outdated exam system

The examination system in Balochistan remains outdated, ineffective and largely disconnected from the realities of modern education. Instead of encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving, it continues to reward rote memorisation and repetition. As a result, students focus more on short-term grades than on genuine understanding or creativity. Learning has become a race for marks.

The syllabus too is poorly structured and rarely updated. It fails to equip students with practical knowledge or skills relevant to today’s academic and professional needs. Examinations are often predictable, testing memory rather than comprehension. In this environment, cheating and corruption have become normalised. Some examiners and invigilators prioritise personal gain over fairness, undermining the credibility of the entire process.

When undeserving students pass while hardworking ones are sidelined, the concept of merit loses all meaning. This culture of unfairness erodes trust in educational institutions and kills motivation among sincere learners. If not addressed, it will continue to produce graduates unprepared for the challenges of higher education or employment.

Authorities must urgently reform the system by introducing modern, concept-based curricula along with strict monitoring mechanisms. Digital evaluation tools and independent oversight can further ensure fairness. Education should inspire curiosity and integrity. A fair, transparent exam system is vital to restore merit and rebuild students’ faith in learning across Balochistan.
