Human inventions

KARACHI:

It goes without saying that human inventions have moved societies forward. The agriculture and industrial revolutions, which steered the world towards prosperity and development, became possible due to human inventions. The advent of machines and the internet revolutionized almost everything on the planet earth. They brought advancement in health as well as education and curbed helped curb social evils such as poverty and crime. The world was made more connected and human mobility more convenient.

However, some believe that these human inventions have thrown societies backward. They argue that these inventions have put the world at the risk of nuclear war and have allowed machines to overthrow humans in the context of controlling the world. Nevertheless, if steps, such as fostering cooperation at the global level regarding non-proliferation of nuclear arms to avoid nuclear conflict and regulating artificial intelligence, are taken, the risk can be minimised. As the evidences of human inventions improving the lives of men are palpable, it is safe to say that these inventions have, indeed, moved the societies forward.
