Garbage disposal in Makran

Letter October 02, 2025
Garbage disposal in Makran

Makran region of Balochistan suffers from lack of garbage disposal, which is becoming a growing menace. Heaps of waste are routinely seen in the streets, on roads and in front of homes, producing foul smells and creating an unhealthy environment. These waste piles can also give birth to dangerous insects, further exacerbating the problem.

The improper disposal of garbage poses significant risks to both the environment and public health. Burning garbage can cause air pollution, which can destroy the ozone layer and make the air dangerous to breathe. Similarly, disposal of waste in water bodies can contaminate the water, making it hazardous for consumption and potentially leading to the spread of diseases.

The main reasons behind this issue include the negligence of municipal authorities and the carelessness of the public. To overcome this problem, both the government authorities and the public should play their role. Authorities should provide dustbins in streets and populated areas and ensure regular garbage collection. And citizens should be educated about the importance of cleanliness and encouraged to maintain hygienic surroundings.

By working together, the government and the public can mitigate the issue of garbage disposal and ensue a cleaner, healthier environment for everyone.
