A large number of candidates gathered at the City Station SP office in Karachi recently to submit their documents for the recruitment of constables and ASIs in the Pakistan Railway Police. The recruitment drive, announced earlier this month, attracted thousands of applicants from across the city.
The submission process, however, turned into a challenge as the heavy rush of candidates caused long queues and delays. Many applicants expressed concern that the process consumed several hours, with some even waiting under the open sky without proper arrangements for seating or shade. Confusion over submission procedures created further problems. After standing in line for hours, the candidates were informed that their documents had to be submitted at their respective divisional offices, rather than at the City Station. This mismanagement wasted a lot of time and effort. Clear instructions should have been issued beforehand to avoid such inconvenience.
The railway police recruitment has generated great interest among unemployed youth, with thousands hoping to secure a government position. Officials should ensure steps to streamline the process and provide better facilities for candidates in the coming days.
