The issue of “local” status has become a major problem in Hub city. Many families who have lived here for years are still denied local certificates. Without these documents, our youth cannot apply for government jobs, scholarships or admission under quota systems. This is a grave injustice to the people of Hub.
We appreciate the efforts of several local politicians who have been supporting residents and raising their voice for locals. But unfortunately, some leaders continue to oppose granting equal recognition as a ‘local’ to all long-settled families. As a result, many deserving households are deprived of opportunities, and their children’s futures are being unfairly damaged.
I urge the concerned authorities to ensure that all long-settled families of Hub are granted local status without discrimination. Only then can we provide equal opportunities and true justice to the people of our city.
