As a university student, I often meet classmates from Balochistan who are compelled to leave their homes and families behind to study in Karachi or other big cities. They have to do this because their province still lacks enough universities, research facilities and most importantly a safe and supportive academic environment.
Balochistan deserves more than token promises. Students and faculty have not to worry about security threats or political instability when their focus should be on learning and teaching. Establishing well-equipped universities within the province, ensuring safety on campuses and supporting faculty development would strengthen education and reduce the brain drain that weakens Balochistan.
Education is the strongest pathway to peace and progress. If we want stability in Balochistan, we must first ensure that its youth have the chance to study with dignity, at home, in safe and thriving institutions.
