Deteriorating road

Letter September 21, 2025
Deteriorating road

The condition of the Panjgur–Turbat road, also known as the M8, has become a pressing concern. As a crucial part of CPEC, this road plays a vital role in facilitating trade and transportation. However, it has been severely damaged by heavy traffic, overloaded vehicles and seasonal rainfall, making it unsafe for travellers and increasingly prone to accidents.

The deterioration of bridges and supporting infrastructure along this route has already led to numerous fatalities. It is imperative that urgent steps be taken to repair and reconstruct the damaged portions of the M8. I strongly urge the Chief Engineer of the National Highway Authority to prioritise this matter in order to ensure both commuter safety and the smooth flow of trade.

Rehabilitating the M8 will not only reduce accidents and loss of life but also strengthen regional connectivity and stimulate economic activity. Immediate action is essential to address this issue before further tragedies occur.
