Abandoned by Lesco

Letter September 10, 2025
Abandoned by Lesco

The misery caused by LESCO is not limited to just one city. Okara, Sheikhupura and Kasur also face the same suffering as Lahore whenever rain arrives. This week, heavy showers plunged all four cities into prolonged blackouts, with feeders collapsing like they do every monsoon.

Families in these areas were left helpless, enduring sweltering nights, ruined food and shuttered businesses. Children cannot study, patients cannot rest and small traders lose their daily income. What kind of service is this, when paying customers are treated with such neglect?

LESCO continues to hide behind excuses about rainfall. But this is not a surprise event, it happens every year. Lahore might get media coverage, but citizens of Okara, Sheikhupura and Kasur suffer in silence, forgotten and ignored. Electricity is not a luxury but a necessity. Lesco must stop treating outages as routine and invest in real upgrades. Our voices will not stay unheard forever.
