6th September holds immense significance in our national history. This day not only commemorates our military victory but also reflects our national unity. The events of 1965 demonstrate courage of our soldiers as well as citizens to preserve sovereignty and integrity of the country. On this day, we pay tribute to our national heroes. By connecting the dots of the past with the present, we can proudly say that this legacy continues and the armed forces of Pakistan have proven their strength once again.
The 1965 Indo-Pak War remains the most crucial military engagement in the history of Pakistan. The tension arose due to the territorial disputes in the Kashmir region that tested the potency of Pakistan’s armed forces and their ability to defend their borders. Meritorious Armed forces of Pakistan, despite having limited resources, successfully defended strategic points like Lahore and Sialkot. The PAF played a major role in holding of Indian airstrikes. The war ended under a UN-brokered ceasefire.
History often repeats itself. In May 2025, we again witnessed a serious tension flaring between Pakistan and India. The provocation of the war was the same — the Kashmir region, more precisely the Pahalgam attack. Again it was a test for us as a nation to stand by our frontline soldiers. The retaliation shown by our armed forces to a much bigger adversary will be long remembered in the history. Our response in the form of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos crushed the malevolent intensions of our enemy, bringing pride and hope for the people of Pakistan.
Our victories in September 1965 and May 2025 show that our armed forces and the citizens are united at every step to protect our beloved homeland. Our enemy can never succeed in its nefarious designs as it has to confront a united Pakistani nation. Every year, the Defence Day is celebrated across the country to preach the lesson of courage, bravery and unity. Based on our victorious past and our triumphant present, we can say with confidence that Pakistan will — by the grace of Almighty Allah — always stand tall.
