Climate change is real. There are loads of evidences to prove that climate change is happening — and quite menacingly at that. Prominent among them are the facts that the earth temperature is increasing, the sea levels are rising and the Arctic ice is melting. According to NASA, Earth’s surface temperature has increased by 1.3C above the 20th century average due to human activities.
Moreover, Arctic sea has declined by over 2 million square kilometre since 1980, with record lows observed in recent winters. Global sea levels have also risen by over 90mm since 1993.
Climate change has also impacted the migration patterns of birds and the blooming timings of spring plants. For example, European Pied Flycatcher, a famous type of birds, is arriving 10 days earlier at breeding grounds of Europe. Likewise, the spring plants like Honeysuckle and Lilacs are blooming early in the spring. It is because of climate change and resultant intense heatwaves. These all evidences show that climate change is not a myth. However, there are people around the world who believe that climate change is not real but part of a political agenda. They substantiate their arguments with the notion that the rise in earth’s temperature is not a new phenomenon. They believe that earth’s temperature has always changed and the scientists are lying for funding.
World leader should come up with stringent measures to mitigate the climate change threat. They can do so by transitioning to renewable energy resources, electrifying transportation and fostering global cooperation and climate financing.
