Hesco’s poor power supply system added to the public misery inflicted by the recent rains in Hyderabad. At least three people died, including from electrocution due to unsafe wires. This shows how dangerous and outdated the electricity supply network has become. Instead of fixing its system, Hesco blames the weather. And while rain is natural, these deaths are certainly man-made.
The infrastructure should be such that people should not fear for their lives whenever clouds gather. How many more lives will have to be lost for the relevant authorities to act responsibly? Lives are too precious to be lost to negligence and excuses.
