Life for ordinary people in Pakistan is becoming harder every day. The rising prices of essential items have turned daily living into a struggle. Already crushed by inflation, citizens are now facing more difficulties because of the continuous increase in petrol and gas rates. At present, petrol costs Rs258.43 per litre and gas Rs300 per kg. These sharp hikes have made life even more difficult, especially for those who were already struggling to meet basic needs.
The sudden surge in petrol prices has made transportation extremely costly. Many students can no longer afford their daily commute to schools and colleges, while working-class people are finding it harder to manage travel expenses. On the other hand, the rise in gas prices has forced several households to use wood for cooking, which is not only unhealthy but also harmful to the environment, adding to rising temperatures and air pollution.
The authorities must take notice and adopt practical steps to bring down the prices of these essential resources. The public needs relief and lowering these costs is the first step towards easing their hardships.
