KARACHI:
Hub Civil Hospital, the only government hospital in the district, presents a grim picture of neglect. The hospital has only two ambulances for hundreds of thousands of people, and suffers from a severe shortage of medical staff, unavailability of essential medicines and a lack of basic facilities such as beds and equipment. Moreover, due to the absence of a trauma center, emergency patients are often referred to Karachi, nearly 20 km away, which has tragically resulted in the loss of lives during transit.
Therefore, the authorities must ensure the availability of essential medicines, adequate infrastructure, sufficient medical staff and enough ambulances at the hospital. Healthcare is a basic right and must be guaranteed to protect human lives.
