KARACHI:
Hospitals are meant to be places of healing, but unfortunately, many government hospitals in Pakistan present a completely opposite picture. Patients and their attendants often find themselves surrounded by dirty wards, overflowing garbage bins and poorly maintained washrooms. Such conditions not only add to the suffering of patients but also expose them to further infections.
Another alarming concern is the behaviour of hospital staff. Many staff members, due to lack of training and awareness, show little empathy and behave rudely with patients. At times, attendants are forced to run from one counter to another simply because no one is willing to guide them properly. This situation not only reflects poorly on the system but also discourages the common man from seeking treatment in these hospitals.
The relevant authorities must take immediate action by ensuring proper cleanliness, conducting strict monitoring of hospital hygiene and arranging regular training sessions for staff to improve their behaviour and exhibit professionalism.
