The people of Turbat are having to deal with an extremely poor sewerage system which has been disrupting daily life for a very long time. For many years, the drainage lines of our city have been damaged, broken and blocked. As a result, dirty water stays on roads and streets for days and weeks on end. This water is full of germs, creates a terrible stench, and makes the entire area unhygienic.
Residents are suffering terribly. Children have to walk to school through flooded streets, and many of them get sick because of the polluted water. Old people and patients cannot go outside easily. The dirty water also becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes, leading to diseases like dengue, malaria and skin infections. In some areas, the sewage even overflows into houses, destroying belongings and making life miserable.
This situation is especially dangerous during the rainy season. Rainwater mixes with sewage and spreads over large areas. Instead of draining away, the water collects in open spaces and streets, blocking traffic and causing accidents. Shopkeepers also face losses because customers cannot reach their shops.
The people of Turbat have complained many times, but no permanent solution has been provided. Temporary cleaning is done sometimes, but the main problem — old, damaged sewerage lines — is never addressed. It is the duty of the concerned authorities to replace sewerage lines, ensure regular cleaning and a proper waste management system. I strongly request the government and the municipal authorities to act without delay. A clean and healthy city is the right of every citizen.
