Sugar crisis

Sugar crisis

The current sugar crisis in Rawalpindi and Islamabad reveals inadequate coordination and systemic inefficiencies in distributing mechanism. It is alarming that despite 18,000 grocery stores in twin cities, average consumers are finding it difficult to purchase basic commodities such as sugar which is being sold at an inflated price of Rs210-220 per kg.

It is due to the lack of efficient monitoring. Government must not only ensure an adequate supply of sugar but also make sure it is available at a reasonable price as people deserve action not only statements.
