Lawless Kashmore

Letter July 22, 2025
Lawless Kashmore

KARACHI:

Interior Sindh is engulfed in violence. Kidnappings, robberies, murders, and demands for ransom have become the order of the day. People are living in constant fear and despair due to the deteriorating law and order situation. Several districts are at the mercy of bandits. Kashmore, in particular, is under control of outlaws. Rarely does a day pass without a reported robbery. Criminals are openly committing crimes in various talukas (sub-districts). Kandhkot and Tangwani have become hubs of such illegal activities.

From transport services to small shops, dacoits spare no one. They loot not only businesses but also public transport. The recent attack on Quetta coaches is a glaring example. Dacoits from the riverine areas stormed a public bus and robbed passengers of all belongings. Unfortunately, no meaningful action has been taken by the relevant authorities.

The recent meeting between the Prime Minister and civil society representatives in Islamabad regarding the dire situation in Kashmore offers a ray of hope. The Prime Minister has promised an urgent and punitive response to the perpetrators. One can only hope that action is taken promptly — before the situation gets even worse.
