Electricity shortage is a pressing issue in Balochistan. When demand exceeds supply, power outages and load shedding become inevitable, disrupting daily life, economies and public services. The causes are multifaceted: increased demand due to extreme weather, insufficient generation capacities, transmission and distribution issues, natural disasters and geopolitical events. The impacts are severe, including economic losses, safety concerns and social disparities.
To address this crisis, our government must invest in infrastructure, diversify energy sources and promote energy efficiency. Implementing smart grid technologies and load management strategies can also help optimise electricity distribution. It’s crucial that we prioritise electricity supply to prevent health issues, especially for those already vulnerable.
