Balochistan’s forests are disappearing at an alarming rate due to illegal logging and unchecked urbanisation. Trees that once provided shade, prevented soil erosion and supported wildlife are being cut down without any replanting efforts. As a result, temperatures are rising, water sources are drying up and dust storms are becoming more frequent.
Strict enforcement of tree protection laws is needed immediately. The government should launch reforestation campaigns involving local communities, providing them with incentives to plant and care for trees. Public awareness programmes can also help people understand the long-term consequences of deforestation. If we do not act now, Balochistan’s environment will face irreversible damage.
