Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti’s recent vow to take “revenge” for the killing of innocent people is concerning. While it is natural for any leader to show anger and grief over the loss of innocent lives, the use of words like “revenge” in official statements can have serious and dangerous consequences.
Such language may inflame tensions and further polarise the already sensitive political and ethnic landscape of Balochistan. It risks giving a pretext to aggressive elements on all sides and could unintentionally hurt the very people the Chief Minister wishes to protect. In a region already marred by conflict and mistrust, emotions must be managed with wisdom and restraint. Leadership must stand for justice, not revenge. The focus should be on lawful accountability, fair investigations and peaceful conflict resolution.
I request the CM to reconsider the tone of such statements and work toward building trust among all communities through justice, dialogue and transparency — not retaliation.
