The Babul trees, also known as Acacia nilotica, are growing in millions in Turbat and other part of Balochistan and have become a serious ecological concern as they consume a large amount of underground water, which is already low in our region.
Moreover, these trees release less oxygen compared to native species and prevent the growth of other useful plants and trees by dominating the soil. This not only disturbs the local biodiversity but also threatens agriculture and natural vegetation.
I request the concerned authorities to take quick action to control their rising growth and immediately arrange initiative to cut down such harmful trees. They should instead cultivate beneficial trees like Neem, Peepal and Moringa, alongside spreading awareness among people. If nothing is done, this problem will only grow bigger with time.
