It has become common to see young people aged between 15 to 25 smoking and indulging in harmful narcotics activities. This has been a common sight across the local hotels, streets, amusement parks and every public place.
It has been a dismal picture and a sorry situation to see the youth destroying itself due to ineffectiveness of anti-narcotic and drug control and prevention authorities. The most common drugs used are cigarettes, cannabis, sheesha, ice crystals and naswar. The use of such life-threatening narcotic substances by the youth has raised alarms over the future of Pakistan. It has made children unhealthy, mentally unstable and unproductive in their lives.
The rise in drug use is largely due to the easy availability of these substances. Drug mafias and dealers are operating openly with the blessings of local authorities and narcotic police. the country’s large youth population could become an unhealthy and unproductive burden on national resources. Ultimately, drugs will consume their potential and drag them into dark paths from which there may be no return.
