Family pensions

Family pensions

The recent decision by the government to limit family pensions to only 10 years after the death of a government employee’s spouse is deeply concerning. This shocking and painful policy change is spreading fear among widows and orphans across Pakistan, as thousands of families depend on these pensions for their survival.

Moreover, thousands of homes rely on these pensions. Their small amount is not a luxury but a lifeline. It is beneficial, often providing essential financial support. During vulnerable times, pensions help families maintain their living standards and afford medical care.

Ending them is a cruel punishment for living long-term. This decision not only increases social concerns but also reflects a violation of fundamental human rights. Therefore, it is requested that the government reverse this decision to protect its most vulnerable citizens. Only then can Pakistan be considered a truly prosperous country.
