Karbala’s eternal message

KARACHI:

Karbala is not merely a chapter from the past; it is a timeless symbol of moral clarity, resistance against oppression, and unwavering commitment to truth. It inspires the oppressed in every era to rise with dignity, even when they stand alone. Karbala transcends sectarian, cultural and political boundaries, offering a universal lesson: standing for justice and truth is the highest form of faith.

This spirit is seen today in the struggles of Iran and Palestine. Iran, despite decades of economic sanctions, isolation and external threats, has refused to compromise its sovereignty. Its resistance is not rooted in confrontation, but in a deep spiritual and cultural belief that dignity cannot be bargained. It stands as an example of principled defiance of choosing hardship over dishonour, echoing the ethos of Karbala.

Similarly, Palestine’s ongoing resistance mirrors the tragedy of Karbala in contemporary form. Despite being under siege for over seventy years, Palestinians continue to assert their identity and right to freedom. Their steadfastness is not just a political act, it is a deeply moral and spiritual assertion of existence, dignity and justice. Against overwhelming odds, they continue to resist, embodying the legacy of Karbala in the modern world.

For Pakistan, the message of Karbala carries urgent significance. In a country where sectarian tensions often overshadow shared values, there is a dire need for religious unity. Karbala teaches that the fight is not between sects, but between truth and tyranny. If we truly honour the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (AS), we must rise above division and build a collective moral conscience that strengthens our national fabric.

Only by standing united can we transform Karbala from a mourning ritual into a living, guiding force for justice, dignity and national harmony. In a world marred by injustice, Pakistan must become a beacon of principled unity, inspired by the eternal stand of Karbala.
