Parental pressure has become a silent burden destroying the confidence and creativity of countless children. Mostly, in Pakistan every parent wants their children to do better than them. In the field of education, parents push their children to excel academically by adopting high standards.
Sometimes they forget about their child’s interests and passions; they just urge them to follow a career path according to what they think is best. According to a JSTMU research, 65.7% of students in Pakistan report parental expectations as their main source of stress. It also leads to negative consequences where children form a pressurising image of their parents, inadvertently damaging their relationship.
Every parent must know about their children’s passions and respect their decisions. Something as important as a career can be decided by working together rather than through imposition.
