Poor coordination

Karachi’s first monsoon spell showed yet again that no matter how prepared one utility may be, it takes a coordinated effort to keep things running. K-Electric showed quick restoration and proactive safety shutdowns but TV and internet cable exposures and systemic risks often stem from unplanned civic works or damaged sewerage lines.

We need better collaboration among utilities, local governments and contractors. If KE can patrol, maintain power supply on 1,900+ feeders and restore faults citywide in a matter of hours, civic bodies can surely step up their side as well. It’s a collective action approach and resilience has to be built together.
