Manjhi Pur, a city in the district of Sohbat Pur, has approximately 24,000 inhabitants and is situated within a visible distance of the Uch Gas field, which has lacked a gas supply for more than a decade. Initially, gas was supplied in 2005, but unfortunately, the devastating flood of 2010 led to a complete disruption of the service.
The residents of the city have repeatedly raised the issue with concerned authorities, but no attention was paid. After being stripped of hope, the residents took to cutting trees and collecting dung to burn in their stoves. This affects the environment and causes pollution. This also deteriorates the health of women and children.
Therefore, once again the concerned authorities and political leaders are requested to pay attention to this grave concern. Supplying gas to the area will not incur any additional costs as the infrastructure for gas supply is already in place. The officials just need to repair the pipelines where needed and restore the gas supply.
