Neglected Gwadar

Neglected Gwadar

KARACHI:

Gwadar is known worldwide for its centrality to CPEC, but this coastal town of Balochistan is facing serious issues that need urgent attention. The citizens of Gwadar are suffering from water shortage, prolonged power outages and illegal trawling which is destroying our marine resources and affecting the local economy. But one of the most neglected and alarming problems is the lack of higher educational institutions in the region.

There is no medical college, no law college, and no nursing institute in Gwadar. The only higher education institution here is the University of Gwadar, which has just five departments. This limited access forces many students to move to other cities like Turbat, Quetta and Karachi for further studies. Unfortunately, a large number of middle-class families cannot afford to send their children to study outside the city, which results in many capable students being left behind.

Gwadar’s youth are passionate, hardworking and eager to contribute to the nation. They deserve the same educational opportunities as students in other parts of the country. It is the responsibility of the government to invest in the future of this region by establishing more professional and higher education institutions.

The authorities must take this matter seriously and work towards providing better educational infrastructure in Gwadar. Education is the key to development, and the youth of Gwadar are ready to play their part — if only they are given the chance.
