Power theft

KARACHI:

The widespread issue of illegal electricity connections, or kundas, is an unlawful practice which causes significant financial losses to the government and ordinary consumers. Besides, it also carries fire and electrocution risks. Responsible citizens, in my locality and many others, have repeatedly complained to PESCO and other authorities, but no action has been taken. That this unlawful practice ultimately burdens honest consumers goes without saying. There is need for an urgent crackdown on electricity theft through illegal kundas and other ways, followed by strict penalties on offenders.
