Missing foundation

Missing foundation

Libraries have always played a crucial role in the development of society. Libraries are the places where ordinary students are converted into bureaucrats, engineers, and doctors. But unfortunately, in Sindh, most people lack access to libraries that are both functional and accommodating.

Even big cities like Larkana only have one general library with limited capacity; a lot of students are not even able to find seating. In this digital era, when the book reading culture is already declining, the absence of libraries is making it more difficult to promote reading habits in our youth. It is sad to witness the ignorance and lack of interest from the government in such a future-defining and important matter. How can we talk about education and keep ignoring the foundational block of education?

The government must focus on building new libraries and promoting a reading culture across the province, especially in rural areas, and upgrading old libraries with modern facilities, internet access, and new books.
