Once again, Pakistan is gripped by extreme heat this summer. Temperatures in Sindh and Punjab have soared above 50°C, triggering health emergencies and power outages. Glaciers in Gilgit-Baltistan now melt at alarming rates, endangering entire communities with sudden glacial lake outburst floods. In Balochistan, a prolonged drought has imperilled many farmers’ entire crop. Meanwhile, Karachi and coastal areas are vulnerable to rising sea levels.
These are not isolated events. They are part of a growing climate emergency that is reshaping the lives and livelihoods of billions. Yet, the people experiencing catastrophic climate change are often left out of the national and global conversation. Our documentary series, Voices from the Roof of the World, tells the stories of communities deeply affected by climate change but frequently overlooked.
At a time when Pakistan is demanding international climate accountability, it is crucial to amplify the voices of those forced to live through the climate crisis every day.
