Library in darkness

Library in darkness

Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto Memorial Public Library is a cradle of future bureaucrats, doctors, engineers and educators. It is a place where young minds are shaped and polished like diamonds — through dedication and hard work, they go on to succeed in various walks of life.

Every day, thousands of students between the ages of 7 and 30, mostly from middle – and lower-middle-class backgrounds, arrive early in the morning to study. However, recent power outages have severely impacted their ability to focus and learn. The large, crowded halls quickly become unbearably hot, and without air conditioners, studying becomes nearly impossible.

The library administration, in its kindness, has arranged for generator power. But in the scorching 50°C heat of Larkana, this is not enough — air conditioners are essential for a conducive learning environment.

We urge the concerned authorities to instruct electricity providers to ensure an uninterrupted power supply during library hours. The uninterrupted education of these determined young individuals — our nation’s future leaders — must not be compromised.
