Poor waste management

Poor waste management

Poor waste management in our cities has become a dangerous problem, rooted in the irresponsibility of both the government and civilians. Whatever we eat or drink, we often dispose of its waste carelessly. Many areas either burn waste or throw it into water bodies. Both of these practices are harmful to the environment as burning waste contributes to air pollution while dumping it in water causes water pollution.

Both of these methods lead to various environmental and health issues, including soil pollution, loss of biodiversity, breathing issues, and the spread of infections. These forms of pollution also gravely impact animal and plant life, significantly damaging their ecosystems.

Cities in Balochistan including Quetta, Khuzdar, Turbat, Gwadar, Chaman and Hub chowki are struggling with garbage-filled streets on every corner. Better waste management facilities must be introduced to address this problem such as recycling systems. Citizens should also be educated about the consequences of poor waste disposal.

Lastly, the government should introduce laws to enforce proper waste management and ensure regular waste collection.
