It pains us to see Dr Aafia Siddiqui go through mistreatment and abuse at the hands of the authorities in the US for something she had not even done. I believe we must do more than expressing our sympathy through online comments. It is criminal to be silent and live untroubled when our compatriot has been a victim of a severe form of torture. A much-needed step in the context would be to highlight her case through the mainstream and social media. Also, collectively, we do have the power to demand government’s engagement for her release. Dr Afia needs our attention in the form of concrete action.
