An increasing problem of encroachment is grappling Gulistan-e-Johar Block 18, Karachi. The number of pushcart vendors and food stalls is rising each day, to the point where the area is gradually turning into a food street. Shopkeepers have displayed their goods all along the footpaths, while pushcarts are found on nearly every street corner. As a result of this, the residents of this area are facing several problems in their daily lives.
The residents of Gulistan-e-Johar Block 18 are suffering from noise pollution, blocked roads and parking issues. Noise pollution is a constant hassle due to the prevalence of customers, and the service road remains blocked most of the time. Cars are parked along the streets, leading to daily traffic jams.
