Unsanitary streets

KARACHI:

In Scheme 33, Gulzar-e-Hijri, Karachi, the accumulation of uncollected garbage has led to a concerning rise in health problems. According to the Sindh Health Department, over 1,500 dengue cases were reported in Karachi in September 2024. Many of those reported cases were from District East, which includes Gulzar-e-Hijri. Reports also show an increase in throat, stomach, and eye infections due to poor waste conditions.

Stagnant water and rotting garbage are creating breeding grounds for mosquitoes and bacteria. And despite repeated complaints, the authorities have not taken any proper action yet. It is imperative that the people in charge take immediate steps to curb improper garbage disposal and ensure routine garbage collection within the area. Otherwise, the people of Gulzar-e-Hijri will continue to face even graver health challenges.
