Most of the bridges on the Turbat-Hoshap section of the M-CPEC highway have become impassable. Many of these bridges have collapsed and are no longer safe to use. A moment of carelessness from a driver could result in a dangerous and potentially fatal accident.
The tender for this highway was awarded to the National Highway Authority (NHA), with the construction contract given to the Frontier Works Organization (FWO). Both the bridges and culverts were built by these institutions.
However, the bridges along the M-Turbat-Hoshap section have developed deep potholes in a short period of time and have broken at several points. In many places, locals have placed pebbles or stones as makeshift markers to warn passing vehicles and motorcycles.
Despite these efforts, the risk of accidents, especially at night or due to distracted driving, remains high. Unfortunately, neither the responsible institutions nor the district administration have taken any significant action to address this issue, putting the lives and property of travelers in constant jeopardy. Immediate attention and repair work are urgently needed to prevent any more tragedies on this vital route.
