Drug addiction is an alarming issue in Balochistan that demands urgent action from authorities. A UN report states that Pakistan has a total of 7.6 million drug addicts, with 78% being male and 22% female. The reasons behind this issue are multifaceted, including easy access to drugs, family background, lack of parental control, peer group influence, and unemployment.
In Balochistan, youth between the ages of 17 and 20 are particularly affected by drugs due to unemployment. The lack of job opportunities has led to depression, which in turn has driven many individuals to substance abuse.
To address this dreadful issue, collective action is required from the government. Providing employment opportunities can help prevent drug addiction and pave the way for a brighter future. It is essential for the authorities to take immediate action to tackle this problem and support the youth in our province.
