Unequal job quota

Unequal job quota

The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has long been criticised for its unequal job quota distribution, particularly for Balochistan. Despite being the largest province by area, Balochistan receives a minimal share in federal jobs, worsening unemployment and underrepresentation.

Currently, Balochistan has a 6% quota in FPSC jobs, significantly lower than Punjab’s 50% and Sindh’s 19%. This disparity ignores Balochistan’s constitutional right to fair representation in federal services. The province already faces severe underdevelopment, and limited job opportunities further push its youth towards frustration and migration.

Critics argue that the FPSC quota system fails to address Balochistan’s unique challenges, including low literacy rates and limited access to competitive exam preparation. While other provinces benefit from better education and coaching facilities, Balochistan’s candidates struggle due to systemic neglect. Balochistan requires special measures such as relaxed qualifying marks and regional centres for examinations. Without such reforms, the province’s participation in federal services will remain minimal, deepening socio-economic inequalities.

The FPSC must revise its quota policy to ensure fair representation for Balochistan. A balanced distribution of jobs will not only empower the province’s youth but also strengthen national unity by addressing long-standing grievances.
