The recent crackdown on illegally residing students at Punjab University’s hostels has sparked frustration among students, particularly among those from far-flung areas such as KP, Balochistan and Gilgit. The Government of Punjab and university administration must take serious notice of this matter and help students from remote regions.
The university’s decision aims to create a peaceful environment, but it has unintended consequences for students without alternative accommodation. Many rely on hostels for affordable living, and losing this privilege disrupts their academic pursuits. The administration should consider alternative solutions, such as temporary accommodation or financial assistance.
A balanced approach would benefit both the university’s goals and student welfare. The Government of Punjab should support the university in addressing student housing needs. By working together, they can find solutions that promote academic success and student well-being.
