The pervasive denial of fundamental labour rights for numerous workers in Pakistan demands urgent attention. Despite their crucial contributions to the country’s welfare, maintenance and economy, many individuals — particularly those who work in in strenuous and vulnerable environments — are deprived of fair treatment, safe working conditions and effective mechanisms for grievance redressal against exploitative employers.
This lack of equality and protection, which is often exacerbated by discriminatory practices, not only undermines the well-being of these workers but also impedes Pakistan’s progress towards becoming a truly successful and just nation. It is therefore imperative that the government prioritise and enforce comprehensive labour laws that guarantee every worker the right to a safe and healthy work environment, fair wages, and accessible avenues for seeking justice.
