KARACHI:
The catastrophic floods of 2022 are still being dealt with, and my family is among the worst affected. Our home in Village Fateh Khan Rustamani, Wahi Pandhi, District Dadu was completely destroyed. While reconstruction efforts have brought relief to many, we remain overlooked and forgotten, our suffering invisible to the very system meant to support us.
Despite countless visits to concerned offices and repeated pleas for help, no survey team has ever come to document our loss. For nearly two years, my elderly parents, young children, and I have been surviving in temporary shelters, clinging to promises that are never fulfilled. Meanwhile, we watch as homes are rebuilt for others in our area — including some who were less severely impacted than we were.
This is not just about rebuilding a house; it is about fairness, justice, and survival. The Sindh People’s Housing for Flood Affectees SPHF programme was created precisely to help families like mine. We meet all the eligibility criteria, endured the same disaster, yet were inexplicably excluded from the survey process. I have submitted every required document, visited every relevant office, and complied with every procedure, only to be met with silence and indifference.
Therefore, I urgently request the immediate dispatch of a survey team to assess the destruction of our home, inclusion of our family in the SPHF beneficiary list without further delay, and a clear and transparent timeline for when we can expect assistance. I appeal to the Sindh Government and all relevant authorities to rectify this injustice. No flood survivor should be abandoned. My family’s survival depends on your timely action, and I sincerely hope you will intervene before it is too late.
