KARACHI:
In the age of social media where the two evils of disinformation and misinformation are rampant, print journalism continues to be the harbinger of accurate information. The newspaper is the most common type of print journalism, although it delivers news relatively late, it does so with accuracy and verification. Print journalism delivers depth, factual analysis, and thoughtful commentary, earning the trust of readers who seek accuracy. The flip side of the coin is social media, which is flooded with information without proper policies or regulations in place to ensure the accuracy or helpfulness of that information.
But in today’s rapidly changing environment, print journalism is facing several challenges including declining leadership, revenue loss, stern competition from digital media, as well as environmental concerns. Despite its credibility and reputation, it is experiencing an unprecedented and substantial decline. Its survival now depends on adapting without compromising its core values. Preserving its integrity while embracing innovation will be key to ensuring that print journalism continues to serve as a trusted source in an increasingly uncertain media landscape.
