It’s quite noticeable that South Korean dramas always depict the role of the mother as someone who is smart, caring and successful. The mothers in these dramas are shown as meeting friends, arranging family gatherings, running their own part time business and generally smart people with good advice for youngsters.
Since the mother’s role in everyone’s life is so important that it is even mentioned in the Quran and therefore it should be always properly promoted in our stories and media.
But in Pakistani dramas the mother is always portrayed as a weak, old person that has no advice or cannot help anyone. Or the mother is portrayed as the villain. The only positive thing that is shown in Pakistani dramas is that mothers will always pray for your success, but it is not shown how those prayers help the hero.
TV drama producers and directors are advised to try to promote the mothers’ role as a strong, dignified and positive characters so that young mothers can have a role model to follow.
