Water crisis

Recent reports from WAPDA indicate an extreme water crisis in Pakistan, with water levels in key reservoirs dropping to dangerously low levels. Tarbela Dam has reached a dead level which renders it useless for both farming and power generation, while Mangla Dam only has 4 litres of water remaining. Furthermore, River Ravi, which has a capacity of 250,000 cusecs of water, now only has 1,300 cusecs remaining. The Indus River is experiencing its lowest water levels in twenty-five years. All of these statistics indicate a dire situation that threatens food security, energy production, and daily water consumption. The extent to which a water crisis affects a country is cause for immediate concern.
Effective policies must be enacted and implemented to manage available resources efficiently, and nationwide awareness campaigns should alert citizens regarding sustainable water consumption practices. These measures are crucial to ensuring the country’s survival in the wake of this looming disaster.
