Dumper accidents

Karachi has seen a sharp rise in accidents involving heavy vehicles, particularly tankers, leading to tragic fatalities and injuries. In the first 37 days of 2025 alone, 99 major accidents have been reported which resulted in 39 fatalities. Recently, the horrific case of a water tanker running over a man and his pregnant wife, with the unborn child being delivered dead, has brought the nation into a state of shock.
In response to these accidents, authorities issued over 34,000 challans and arrested 490 drivers, but reckless driving and poor enforcement of laws continues to endanger lives despite measures. Tankers and heavy vehicles are still present on city roads during peak hours, posing a significant risk to motorists and pedestrians.
Strict traffic regulation, better road infrastructure, and designated routes for heavy vehicles are crucial steps towards securing the safety of Karachi’s residents, and the authorities must act decisively to prevent further tragedies.
