Severe congestion is witnessed in Karachi’s shopping malls during Ramadan, particularly in the last ten days before Eid-ul-Fitr. Shopping centres such as Lucky One Mall, Dolmen Mall (Clifton, Tariq Road and Hyderi) and Atrium Mall experience overwhelming crowds, making shopping an exhausting and sometimes unsafe experience.
Thousands of people visit these malls for Eid shopping, dining and Ramazan purchases, resulting in overcrowding, long queues at checkout counters, lack of parking and even security concerns. The situation is further worsened by traffic jams outside malls, causing inconvenience to both shoppers and commuters.
If immediate steps are not taken, the congestion could lead to safety hazards, including stampedes or theft incidents. The authorities should address this growing problem and ensure a safer, more organised shopping experience for Karachi’s residents.
