Invisible guilt

Letter March 23, 2025
Invisible guilt

I would like to share a perspective that may help readers view the world with a calmer state of mind.
Have you ever felt the burden of not being grateful enough? In a world where we are constantly reminded of our “ungratefulness”, we often carry an invisible guilt — a feeling that we’re not appreciating life as we should, not doing enough to honour our blessings.
But what if the truth is softer than we think?
What if you have always been grateful — just without noticing it?
The very act of wanting to be more grateful, of feeling humble and undeserving, is in itself a quiet form of gratitude. It reflects a heart that is aware, reflective and sincere.
Gratitude doesn’t always come with grand gestures or public expressions. Often, it hides in the little things: taking care of your health, offering help to someone in need, choosing kindness when no one is watching, forgiving silently, working honestly or even just pausing to breathe deeply and appreciate a quiet moment.
Sometimes, gratitude appears in the way we show up for others — despite our own tiredness. Sometimes, it’s in the way we keep going, even when life feels heavy.
Even the effort to grow, to become better, to love more deeply — all of that is gratitude in motion.
So if you’ve ever felt like you’re not grateful enough, maybe you need to look closer. You might already be living a life full of quiet, beautiful gratitude — just not in the way the world always defines it.
