Traffic-related problems near Jauhar Morr in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Karachi are increasing day by day, affecting the traffic flow on Rashid Minhas Road and other adjoining roads. There are several key reasons behind this issue. The most critical is the presence of wrong-way traffic, which is rarely controlled. Occasionally, one or two traffic sergeants are seen, but their presence hardly makes a difference.
Additionally, illegal encroachments have worsened the situation. Hoteliers, fruit vendors, vegetable sellers and other stall owners have occupied footpaths, making it difficult for both pedestrians and vehicles to move freely. Another major issue is double parking, which has become a norm. Many cars and motorcycles are parked on the roadside, with people stopping to buy fruits, vegetables and other items, further obstructing the traffic.
Authorities do conduct anti-encroachment operations every one or two months, but to no avail. The news of the arrival of officials spreads beforehand, enabling encroachers to remove their belongings temporarily. Once the officials leave, the illegal stalls reappear, and the congestion resumes.
As a result of these issues, Jauhar Morr faces severe traffic jams almost daily. A blockage that takes just two minutes to form could take an hour or more to clear. These pressing concerns need to be highlighted so that the relevant authorities take effective measures to resolve them.
