Transportation woes

Transportation woes

Samundri, one of the six tehsils of Faisalabad, is home to 0.73 million people with a literacy rate of 76%. A glaring lack of higher education institutes or industries in the region forces students and workers to travel to Faisalabad for better academic and work opportunities. Unfortunately, there are no adequate transportation services from Samundri to Faisalabad that could aid frequent travelers. The only means of transport comprises compact wagons and local buses with no structured schedules or reliable service. The buses only operate once the required number of passengers is met, and frequent stops en route turn the entire journey into a hassle. This debacle is even more frustrating for elderly people and people with disabilities, who already face constant barriers to ease and accessibility. The tehsil administration and relevant authorities are greatly urged to take measures to improve the transportation system and facilitate its residents so that they may be able to commute conveniently.
